Eva came to our school when she was 36 years old. It was her first exposure to school. She learns quickly, though, and is a very responsible student. Sometimes when she misses the school transportation, she walks all the way to school. She smiles easily, and just as easily bursts into tears. She is brimming with ideas and emotions, but before coming to our school, was very limited in expressing herself using only gestures and pantomime.
You see, Eva has Cerebral Palsy, and is unable to verbalize. She has constant muscle spasms, but somehow manages to walk unassisted. She started learning Mexican Sign Language her very first day at school. She has a fantastic memory for the meaning of the signs, but is greatly hindered in reproducing the signs because of her muscle spasms. However, she is determined to learn to communicate through signs, and she is making progress. She is also learning basic reading, writing, and math skills.

She knew about our school long before we knew about her. Anayeli (one of our deaf students) is her niece. We´re very pleased to have her as our student. She is anxious to learn, and very happy to be with us.

Each of our students, like Eva, has unique needs. We are thankful for the opportunity to show God´s love to each one. After a few months of school, Eva put her trust in Jesus as Savior, and her spiritual grown has been amazing. She has learned to pray in sign language, and is eager to put into practice what she learns. One particular Bible truth was very hard for her to obey: Forgiveness, but she eventually learned to forgive others too. She has become a joyful Christian that is looking forward to heaven where she will speak easily and be free from spasms and pain.
